The fact they sent you essays to do is a positive sign, the fact you've yet to hear back from them suggests your application is still under consideration. As the old adage goes 'no news is good news'. I think you'll just have to patient on this one as nobody can predict the outcome until it's happened. If it's been a while why not try giving them a call or dropping the admissions department an email.
