How to tell a friend that you only like her as friend?

there is this girl that I am friends with, we are really close and she just told me that she liked me more and she wants us to take things further, but I onl like her as a friend. how can I tell her that without breaking her heart? I really care about her and I dont want her to b sad or anything.....please help I dont knw wat to do..
