What would happen if you sprayed silver ion aeroal or nasal spray up your nose ?

Let's say i had an aerosol or nasal spray containing Silver ions (doe's not exists purely theoretical) , Silver ion are said to kill virus and bacteria, Now what would happen if i sprayed this in my mouth or up my nose when i could hav been exposed to a colds/flu causing virus wouldn't this indeed Kill the bacterium or virus before it takes hold ?
