How to i get him to care?

i use to like my best guy friend of 3 years, but i was almost sure he didn't like me back. It was like a roller coaster of mixed messages that was taking a tole on our friend ship (from my perspective) so after a while i was finally able to get over him and just be friends. But recently he finally confessed he liked me more than that because another friend told him i felt the same way. Over joyed i said yes but i'm not sure if it was a mistake. I love him as my friend, he's sweet, funny, and outgoing but the feelings i use to have for him are not the same. I also think he made the premature decision of asking me out not ready for a relationship. He doesn't really act like a boyfriend pretty much never texts me and i'm the only reason we usually hang out b/c i always have to ask him out. is there a way to get him to show he cares a little more? i feel like i'm the only one trying to make this work when i'm still trying to figure out how i even feel about him! i just want him to show he cares even a little bit. It's nice that he likes me, but i want him to prove it. thanks your help is much appreciated :)
