Jump rope techniques that help with tennis: should I be doing "single skip" or "running" when jumping rope?

I've heard that jump roping is a great workout for tennis and that it helps with footwork. However, should I be running while jumping or should I be doing a single skip (like hopping). I'm sure there are other jump roping techniques, but I want to be able to do the best one that will help specifically with tennis.
